Welcome to ALKA Health, Your Partner in Care
Through ALKA, I provide integrated care that supports the complete well-being of families during the perinatal stage. My work brings together feeding, sleep, emotional health, and relationship challenges — including support for families navigating the NICU experience — to help you feel confident and supported throughout your journey.
- Expert advice on feeding methods from a certified professional.
- Effective strategies to help your baby (and you) sleep better.
- Support for emotional wellness from a skilled counsellor.
About ALKA
I’m Esther Treadaway, a Registered Nurse, Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Counsellor, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and NDC (Neuroprotective Developmental Care) Practitioner trained with extensive experience supporting families through the perinatal and infant period.
Too often, services separate feeding, sleep, mental health, or partner relationship into single issues, when in reality, these challenges are tightly connected: feeding impacts sleep, sleep impacts mental health, and mental health impacts both relationships and feeding. Families can quickly find themselves in a vicious circle where one difficulty fuels another. Many end up moving between services without addressing the whole picture, leaving with a basket of conflicting advice and feeling more confused than before.
That’s why I founded ALKA — to give families one place where feeding, sleep, emotional wellbeing, and partner relationships are understood together, not in isolation.
What makes this possible is the extent of my training and clinical background. From Paediatrics, NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) , and Child and Family Health to Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, Adult Acute Mental Health, and Tragedy Response/Grief and Loss, I have worked across every stage of the journey. Alongside a Master of Clinical Nursing, a Postgraduate Diploma of Counselling, International Board Certification in Lactation Consultancy, and NDC (Neuroprotective Developmental Care) Practitioner trained, this experience means you can be confident that the advice and support you receive is both compassionate and expertly informed.
Alongside my private practice at ALKA, I also work part-time as a Clinical Nurse Consultant in the public health system, supporting families through the lactation service of a large tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania.
